Phenolic Resin Doctor Blade

Phenolic resin doctor blade, also known as cotton fiber doctor blade, is a non-metallic cleaning blade commonly used in paper machines. It is made of phenolic thermosetting resin as the matrix, reinforced with cotton and glass fiber cloth, and molded by hot pressing and precision cutting. Its core is used for cleaning, descaling, and scraping the surface of dryer cylinders, calendering rolls, wire drive rolls, and press rolls, without scratching the metal roll surface and cylinder surface.

Application Position of Phenolic Resin Doctor Blade

1. Dryer Section (Dryer Cylinder)

Applicable: Front dryer cylinder, medium and low temperature dryer cylinder (≤ 120 ℃), soft roll, size press roll, scraping off wet pulp, adhesive, resin, starch, calcium carbonate scale, paper lint on the cylinder surface.

Not applicable: High temperature post drying, Yankee dryer cylinder (>150 ℃), easy to soften, cannot be scraped clean, and stains paper with residue.

2. Press Section (Press Roll)

Soft calendering and ordinary calendering rolls are used to scrape off dust, adhesive, and paper lint on the roll surface, keep the roll surface clean, ensure the smoothness of the paper surface, and avoid color difference/paper disease.

3. Wet Section (Wire Drive Roll, Press Roll, Vacuum Suction Roll)

Scrape off the pulp, white water, and sticky dirt on the mesh/roller surface, protect the forming fabric and press felt, and prevent sticking, hole blockage, and poor dehydration.

Advantages of Phenolic Resin Doctor Blade

1. Non damaging roll/cylinder surface: Moderate hardness (Shore D80-90), delicate texture, absolutely will not scratch chrome/stainless steel dryer cylinders, calendering rolls, and wire drive rolls, avoiding grooves on the roll surface and extending the roll overhaul cycle. This is the biggest advantage compared to carbon steel/stainless steel doctor blade.

2. Heat resistance and stability: Continuous temperature resistance ≤ 120 ℃, suitable for wet section, press section, and front dryer section (low temperature section). High temperature section (>150 ℃) is prone to softening and deformation, requiring replacement of steel doctor blade.

3. Chemical and corrosion resistance: resistant to acid, alkali, pulp/white water, sizing agents, resin deposits, not easily corroded or swollen.
